LDC is looking for a highly motivated and talented Postdoctoral Fellow to join our plant Proteins R&D team. The successful candidate will work on cutting-edge research projects focused on the extraction and purification of plant proteins from various botanicals. The research will involve both structure and function approaches, with the aim of developing scalable and sustainable extraction processes.

Main accountabilities:

  • Generate ideas and conduct independent research on scalable extraction technologies and methodologies.
  • Develop fundamental understanding of the structure-function relationships in proteins and other macro- & micro- ingredients with different extraction techniques to enhance their functional properties and optimize their performance in diverse applications (stability, formulation, and others).
  • Design and perform experiments to optimize extraction processes in bench scale to transfer process to pilot plant.
  • Analyze and interpret data using advanced statistical and analytical techniques.
  • Communicate data & results timely to the stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including chemists, chemical engineers, process engineers, and application scientists.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in proteins extraction technologies and related fields.

Knowledge and Experience:

Experience:

  • Knowledge of protein structure and function properties, applications of enzymes, lipids, and carbohydrates biochemistry.
  • Know-how in methods to characterize plant proteins and its use thereof in food and beverage systems using analytical methods such as rheology, texture analysis, particle size, scanning microscopy, proteomics, CD/DSC, SDS-PAGE, etc.,
  • Experience in structure and functional aspects of various botanical seeds
  • Experience with statistical software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Understanding of QA/QC, microbial safety, and sensory properties of protein and food products;
  •  Broad view on plant-based food and beverage industry and markets, in-depth knowledge on products

Education

  • Ph.D. in biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field with strong background in protein extraction techniques and downstream process optimization.

Languages:

  • Excellent in verbal and written proficiency in English

Other skills and competencies:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, analytical abilities, data visualization software, excellent communications and project management skills, ability to present research findings to scientist and non-technical audiences;
