This position maintains and repairs operating equipment for a soybean crushing and biodiesel plant. Primary function is to ensure that the machinery and equipment in the plant remain in good working order to optimize plant productivity and efficiencies. Responsible for complying with all applicable Company standards and government regulations. Maintenance responsibilities include project and outage work. This position may also be responsible for activities related to Pipefitting and Millwright/Fabrication. 

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Maintains and repairs operating equipment, including removal, installation, rebuilding, lubrication and cleaning of all equipment associated with the production process
  • Welds, torches, cuts, fabricates, and pipe threading
  • Maintains utility equipment, diesel fire pumps, locomotives, rail tracks, and other associated equipment
  • Performs basic instrument replacement and basic electrical work
  • Learns plant process and procedures for plant start-up, shut-down and operations for better understanding of how equipment is utilized
  • Ensures orderly shift change by communicating with outgoing operations staff with respect to maintenance problems or other ongoing issues and/or tasks

Required:

  • Four (4) years of experience with welding, cutting, gearbox repair, pump alignment, material handling systems, preventive maintenance, and/or instrument and electrical work in an industrial processing facility or in a machine shop
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, procedures and industrial processing machinery
  • Knowledge of PLC, Instrumentation, Ladder Logic, MCC’s and Electrical systems
  • Ability to perform all duties of position while maintaining compliance with regulatory safety requirements, e.g., OSHA (including PSM), EPA, USDA, ISO 9000 and BQ-9000
  • Ability to read electrical and equipment schematics
  • Ability to provide instruction with respect to computer control systems and machine operation/repair
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders as well as work at heights; manage confined space entry, withstand extended periods of walking and standing; move manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 pounds or more which requires regular bending and lifting

Preferred:

  • Technical degree
  • Pipefitting and Millwright/Fabrication experience
