This position sits in our Freight Platform and will offer the opportunity to join one of the major global drybulk freight operators, shipping 55 million tons of cargoes per year, concentrating integrated activities of chartering, trading, and market analysis. We are an integrated team that looks forward to nurturing its next all-rounder with a rewarding and visible career within a high-performance organization.
Main Responsibilities:
This role requires efficient control and close liaison with other counterparties in remote locations. The key tasks assigned include:
- Operate and be responsible for the end-to-end management of all allocated vessels’ shipping operations matter, for Dry Cargo ships
- Communicate and liaise with vessel owner’s/ship masters/charterers, trading team and other relevant stakeholders on voyage instructions
- Responsible for following up on post fixture activities
- Manage assigned external relations with customers and / or suppliers
- Support and lead process improvement initiatives as required
- Ensure and champion a close and harmonious working relationship with the relevant Commercial team
- Collaborate effectively with other Freight Platform desks
Experiences:
- At least 5 years’ experience as Operator of Voyage/ Time Charter dry bulk vessel, minimally 8-10 vessels at a time
- Significant and demonstrated customer or supplier relationship skills
- An interest in and aptitude for people management
- Knowledge of macroeconomics including trade flows
- Commercial Maturity/Shipping or Economic studies
- Fluent in English essential, with other languages an advantage
- Sea-going experience desirable but not essential
- Proficient in use of technology particularly Excel, Word, Shipping system (strong preference for IMOS).
Other skills (Computer Skills, etc):
- Customer focused and relationship building with key accounts (Internal Customers and Shipowners)
- Accountability and strong sense of ownership, team play and collaboration.
- Enjoys working to tight time constraints
- Personal drive and the ability to motivate others
- Possess Negotiating skills
- Innovative, adaptive, and flexible
- Good verbal and written communication
