Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development and Growth:
    • Identify and cultivate new business opportunities in East Africa.
    • Drive profitability in the grains business line.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
    • Negotiate and execute profitable sales deals.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Monitor and manage local distribution operations.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth business processes.
    • Mentor and train junior team members.
  • Financial Management:
    • Take full ownership of the grains P&L, including cost control and reporting.
    • Resolve client issues and concerns promptly.
  • Market Analysis and Reporting:
    • Conduct in-depth market analysis and prepare regular reports.
    • Contribute to annual budgeting processes.
    • Participate in industry events and conferences.
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Handle purchase and sales administration.
    • Support debt recovery efforts.
    • Monitor port operations and regional food supply and demand.

Education: 

  • University Degree: Agribusiness/Financial degree 

  • Good computer knowledge - Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI

  • Background in agriculture will useful 

 

Experience (including number of years): 

  • 3-5 years relevant experience

  • Specific product knowledge 

  • In depth knowledge of commodity trade 

  • Understanding of Cash and Futures Markets 

  • Understanding of regional and global supply/demand 

  • Very good stakeholder management skills 

  • Good working knowledge of Excel (formulation/models) and Microsoft Office. 

  • Good understanding of macro and micro economics  

  • Knowledge of finance and accounting 

  • Ability to handle pressure and think quickly 

  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately 

  • Good mathematical knowledge
