Overall Purpose and Objective of Position: This position operates equipment for the bean preparation and extraction process areas of a soybean crushing and biodiesel plant. Primary function is to ensure that these processes are operated and controlled in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with government regulations and Company standards.

 

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

 

  • Operates industrial processing equipment and completes regular checks of equipment to ensure that standard operating procedures are followed, Company standards are met, and plant efficiencies are optimized.
  • Works in an organized, safe and clean manner; ensuring work area is kept clean and free from all safety hazards.
  • Responds to equipment issues or alarms; investigates and initiates resolution. 
  • Ensures compliance with Company safety rules and wears proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required in fulfillment of assigned responsibilities. 
  • Conducts quality control tests, enters data into the electronic data system and operates the computer control system at the plant.
  • Performs inspection rounds, completes log readings, and reports safety, equipment and operational issues to supervisor.
  • Collects, records and analyzes process data to optimize plant efficiencies and product quality.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Participates in Shift/Team activities including complying with best practices, standard operating procedures, development and maintenance.
  • Actively participates in Continuous Improvement Activities by supporting the LDC Developing New Aptitudes Program.
  • Actively participates in job-related training as required.
  • High school diploma/GED is required. Technical degree is preferred.
  • Without a technical degree, four years of experience in an industrial environment is required.
  • With a technical degree, one year of experience in an industrial environment is required. 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and procedures is required.
  • Ability to operate machinery and computer control systems while maintaining compliance with regulatory safety requirements, e.g., OSHA (including PSM), EPA, USDA, ISO 9000 and BQ-9000 is required.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders as well as work at heights; manage confined space entry, withstand extended periods of walking and standing; and move manufacturing materials, products and equipment of 50 pounds or more which requires regular bending and lifting is required.
  • Mechanical aptitude, basic math and fundamental PC skills are required.
  • Effective communication skills are preferred.
  • General knowledge of oilseed processing operations is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (specifically Excel) required.
  • Experience with Sharepoint and Office 365 Programs 
  • Basic knowledge of Tablet Operation required
