LDC is looking for a motivated and independent self-starter for Postdoctoral Research Scientist - Plant Protein to join our Plant Protein business unit R&D group. This R&D team evaluates, purifies, and characterize novel plant proteins along with investigating ways to enhance their functionalities within food systems.

Main responsibilities:

  • Design and execute experiments to investigate the physico-chemical and functional properties of various plant proteins, with a focus on the impact of storage time and conditions.
  • Data visualization and statistical analysis of experimental results as well as interpreting and communicating the findings to the R&D team and the business unit.
  • Collaborate with process engineering, analytics, and product development teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in plant protein research that can mentor and help develop internal talent.

Experience:

  • Good understanding of (plant) protein chemistry and functionality
  • Experience in methods and equipment used to assess protein physicochemical and functional properties.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceive original ideas, articulate them clearly and design experiments to test them.
  • Ability and desire to work effectively in a team, leading and mentoring research associates, collaborating with fellow scientists and engineers, and setting an example of scientific excellence for the team.

Education

  • PhD in protein chemistry, food science, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemistry, biology, food ingredients process technology or related fields.

    Languages:

    • Written and verbal English language proficiency

    Other skills and competencies:

    • Experience in LIMS is a plus
