The Compliance & Internal Audit Department (“CIAD”) is looking for a junior data analyst based in Sofia, with analytical expertise, and ability to understand business processes & risks. 

The CIAD has been embedding data analytics across the compliance & audit lifecycle for years, in close coordination with Compliance Monitoring Department (“CMD”), which has been pursuing a dynamic implementation of Continuous Control Monitoring. Our department aims to leverage technology to optimize the performance and the effectiveness of internal auditors, compliance officers and other business functions.

Your role will mainly include the following:

  • Understand compliance, audit and business processes, risks & control objectives;
  • Define the necessary analytics for the monitoring, identifying the appropriate data for the question at hand;
  • Examine populations of data using various techniques (e.g., descriptive, predictive, prescriptive), and raise potential issues (such as identifying attributes that previously were out of reach, or discerning relationships and correlations that were never visible);
  • Develop, schedule and document code. This will require having a good understanding of key system databases, group methodologies/policies;
  • Test the results with end users;
  • Continuously monitor key risks;
  • Maintain existing controls;
  • Provide guidance and assistance to our internal clients;
  • Contribute to department improvement initiatives;
  • Build reports & KPIs on activities & results for different committees;
  • Communicate & present achievements to stakeholders;
  • Develop the controls with Python, and/or to translate existing controls from ACL to Python;
  • Develop machine learning workflows using algorithms in Cardabel.

 

 

Profile and skills

Experience:

  • Work experience in data analysis and coding will be considered as a plus;
  • Coding knowledge and experience with programing languages;
  • Experience using statistical computer languages (Python, R) will be a plus;
  • Technical knowledge of any data analysis tool;
  • Knowledge in math models and machine learning is considered a plus;
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.

Soft Skills:

  • Good written & verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams;
  • Good presentation skills;
  • Rigorous, organized;
  • Critical thinking;
  • Flexible, ability to change priorities quickly, and capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous and/or stressful situations;
  • Details and solutions oriented;
  • Ability to understand business processes and to communicate with non-IT people;
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

 

Language

  • English - strong written and oral communication skills 
  • Other languages would be most welcome
