The position is responsible for providing grain marketing services to Louis Dreyfus Company’s grower customers. These services are delivered through building and developing successful relationships with our grower community and understanding their farming and grain marketing requirements better than any other competitor in the market. Members of LDC’s merchant team play a key role in the profitable acquisition of targeted grain volumes in line with the LDC’s requirements.

Daily activities include but are not limited to:

  • Building relationships with grower customers, brokers, agents, and consultants.
  • Ensure timely and accurate publication of grower pricing.
  • Record and maintain grower purchase contracts and amendments in LDC systems within specified timeframes.
  • Provide administrative support and documentation for grower clients and their agents (e.g., contract confirmations, RCTIs).
  • Develop and implement site-specific strategies to meet purchasing targets for operational and trading teams.
  • Collect and analyze information collected from grower clients to develop and share a view on what is driving their marketing decisions.
  • Collaborate with LDC Operations and Logistics teams to identify opportunities and risks related to grower decision making and contracts.
  • Attend internal and external events such as crop tours, field days, and industry meetings.
  • Promote and encourage the use of LDC’s digital tools among growers and customers.
  • Seek opportunities for data integration across application systems.
  • Participate in new system projects.

To be successful in the role, you may have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in an agricultural discipline preferred.
  • Experience & understanding of South Australia / Victorian agriculture and farming systems.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and intermediate general computing skills.
  • Understanding of Salesforce and Grainmate.
  • GTA Trade Rules Qualification.
  • Current drivers licence is essential.
  • Considerable experience in a client facing role within grain growing regions of Victoria.
  • Strong empathy for and knowledge of the South Australia / Victorian cropping sector and communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and influence decision-making.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to set objectives and achieve outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Negotiation & conflict management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of data is essential.
  • Computer skills.
  • Ability to build strong relationships.
