Job Overview
The Carbon Commercial Specialist will play a pivotal role in LDC’s Sustainability and Energy Transition team in Asia, combining both analytical and commercial expertise in the rapidly evolving carbon credits market. This position focuses on MRV of the company's GHG emissions, analyzing supply and demand trends, policy developments, and commercializing the company’s carbon credits portfolio. The role will involve developing relationships with key stakeholders, including end-buyers, brokers, and intermediaries, to drive growth and identify new opportunities in the voluntary carbon market.
Main Responsibilities
- MRV of the Company's GHG Emissions: Collect and monitor Scope 1,2 & 3 data of the company's assets, apply appropriate models for the generation of monitoring reports and assist external verifications on the GHG emissions of individual asset.
- Market Analysis & Insight Generation: Analyze market trends and macroeconomic fundamentals in the carbon credits market across Asia. Provide actionable insights related to supply/demand dynamics and policy developments to help manage and optimize the company’s carbon credits portfolio.
- Policy & Regulatory Tracking: Monitor and analyze global and regional policy developments within the voluntary and mandatory carbon market, identifying opportunities and potential risks that could impact the company’s carbon credit transactions in Asia.
- Market Intelligence Reporting: Distribute weekly market updates to the Sustainability and Energy Transition team, summarizing key policy, market, and trade highlights relevant to the carbon credits market.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the carbon credit ecosystem, including end-users, intermediaries, brokers, wholesalers, and consultants. Develop and nurture a network of commercial relationships to support the growth and success of the carbon credits portfolio.
- Transaction Execution & Commercialization: Identify and close spot over-the-counter carbon credit transactions with counterparties. Ensure the timely and accurate entry of trades into position management systems and monitor P&Ls to guide commercial strategy. Collaborate with back-office teams to ensure seamless delivery of carbon credits and compliance with registries.
- Internal Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to the development of a carbon expertise center within the organization, fostering the integration of carbon credit strategies across the full value chain. Organize and participate in internal workshops, training, and presentations to share insights and knowledge.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as Sustainability, Trading, and Compliance to ensure alignment and execution of the company’s carbon market strategies. Support the wider team with business development and strategy initiatives.

- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related fields.
- Equivalent work experience in the carbon market or sustainability sectors will be considered.

- 1-2 years in a commercial role related to carbon markets, such as origination, sales, or business development, with a focus on the voluntary carbon credits market.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in evaluating supply and demand dynamics, policy trends, and economic drivers within carbon markets.
- Proven experience in hedge and position management, balance sheet analysis, and P&L reporting.
- Understanding of regional and global carbon markets and carbon compliance schemes.
- Experience in negotiating and closing spot transactions and managing carbon credits portfolios.
- Must have a strong understanding of the cash business for physical trading.
- Ability to focus on trading nature-based solutions.
- Experience in carbon project management and understanding of how farming practices can be changed to enhance carbon profiles.
- Ability to generate P&L and engage with suppliers and customers.

- High autonomy and adaptability in fast-changing environments, with the ability to independently drive projects and solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to build relationships with diverse stakeholders, from small producers to senior traders.
