This position operates the wastewater treatment plant equipment for a soybean crushing and biodiesel plant. Primary function is the testing and monitoring of wastewater and boiler processes to ensure they are operated and controlled in a safe and efficient manner in compliance with government regulations and Company standards.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Daily testing of wastewater to ensure compliance with regulations
  • Operates wastewater treatment / Boiler equipment properly following approved procedures
  • Responds to equipment issues or alarms, investigates issues and initiates resolutions
  • Performs all required inspection rounds.  Collects water samples at several locations for testing.
  • Sample and perform testing on boiler water treatment
  • Records laboratory test data and generates reports as appropriate
  • Ensures plant facilities are kept clean and free from all safety hazards, complies with company safety rules, and wears proper personal protective equipment (PPEs) as needed

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Reports any issues to area supervisor.
    • Provides general housekeeping to assure a safe and uncontaminated environment
    • Completes miscellaneous tasks as requested by management

    Required:

    • Ability to work in a safe manner and follow all safety standards and procedures.
    • Experience with industrial wastewater or boiler house operations.   
    • Knowledge of industrial water treatment, boiler house and wastewater processes
    • Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures
    • High school diploma.
    • Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
    • Ability to learn and follow testing procedures.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks with accuracy and prioritize workload.
    • Proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software, (e.g., Excel and MS Word).

    Preferred:

    • Licensed Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator
    • Knowledge of quality programs such as ISO 9000 or BQ 9000.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent attention to detail.

    This is position is working nights.
