Description

This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations for LDC Kenya Milling and warehouse operations. This position is also responsible for managing a team of Production & Warehouse employees to ensure coffees are received, processed, stored and shipped in a timely manner to clients Following Industry standards for LDC.

Responsibilities:

Coffee Milling Operations
1.    Provides clear directions and general guidance to the department in the formulation of basic policies and procedures and ensure that these are translated to action
2.    Develops and implements business process initiatives to optimize departmental operations in accordance with overall business objectives. 
3.    Coordinates with the purchasing department with regards to incoming deliveries of raw materials and coffee supplies.
4.    In charge of running the Coffee Milling plant and Warehousing aligned with Quality standards. 
5.    Line manage all the employee assigned in the production plant and warehouse. 
6.    Design production schedules and overseeing the coffee production process
7.    Participate in the annual Industry budget and strategic long-term planning for OPEX and CAPEX
8.    Ensuring that the production is cost effective by cost tracking, controlling and anticipating 
9.    Making sure that coffee milling and processing is done on time and quality preserved  
10.    Safe, secure coffee warehousing, inventory management and risk management  
11.    Working out the material resources needed. 
12.    Monitoring the coffee production and export processes and adjusting schedules and Management Reporting

Warehousing Roles

1.    Effectively ensure warehouse and inventory monitoring systems and procedures are adhered fully.
2.    Effectively monitors flow of goods and implements First-In First-Out (FIFO) method in the use of raw materials and milling of coffee.
3.    Ensures effective utilization of warehouse areas and observes proper loading, unloading, stocking and safekeeping of items to maintain the quality of finished goods in order to prevent product damage and avoid occurrence of pilferage, accidents and occupational hazards.
4.    Timely Execution of Coffee processing instructions, reporting and intake into inventory management systems.
5.    Coordinate timely procurement and control of raw materials for warehousing of coffee.
6.    Initiate and Implement special projects and ensure Management reporting.
7.    In charge of supervision and management for external rented warehouses
8.    In charge of Packaging Planning and cost management

3.3 Team management

1.    Develop and lead the continuous improvement activities within the team. 
2.    Monitor and measure results of initiatives, resource optimization and taking corrective action as necessary. 
3.    Build and develop relationships at all levels across the production function in order to spark ideas for continuous improvement. 
4.    Liaising among different departments, e.g. Trade, Logistics, Quality, Human Resource and Controlling
5.    Working with Country Manager and Commercial Manager to implement the company's HR policies and goals. 
6.    Supervision and motivation plan for Industry team. 
7.    Assist direct reports in setting objective and reviewing workers performance. 
8.    Identifying training needs and motivation strategies for the team 
9.    Constantly Feedback and Reporting to Management

SHE compliance

1.    To ensure the plant and equipment is implemented and maintained in accordance with Engineering standards, local and statutory legislation, KEBS system, ISO systems and LDC SHE standards. 
2.    To ensure that safety and quality are a key element of the production culture.
3.    Plan, coordinate and implement SHE initiatives
4.    Ensure Monthly SHE KPI monthly planning and corrective actions to fit LDC Guidelines.
5.    Ensure compliance with OHSA, LDC standards, procedures and legal requirements. 
6.    Track recommendations with action plans and reporting
7.    Collaborate in other tasks and activities that will be out of your main responsibilities.

Food Safety responsibilities: 

1.    Communicate food safety according to communication matrix
2.    Comply with the Food Safety Management System
3.    Comply with good hygiene practices
4.    Participate in the Food Safety, Food Fraud and Food Defense team
5.    Participate in food safety audits internals and externals

Skills and Qualifications

  1. Hold a relevant degree in mechanical/Production or Food engineering or related fields and relevant experience.
  2. 10 years’ managerial experience preferably within the Coffee milling industry.
  3. Flexible in nature and willing to adjust to the needs of the company
  4. Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  5. Pro-active and ability to analyze and solve problems.
  6. Possess excellent communication skills and team working ability at all levels.
  7. Ability to use Management information systems
  8. Effective interpersonal skills and organizational awareness
