Overall Purpose:
The Freight Platform is currently undergoing a transition revolving around Digitalization of its activities, consolidation of its data flows’ captures and preparation for the Decarbonization wave to come. As part of this transition, several solutions are currently being deployed, and workflows are evolving. The platform is heavily investing in automation to increase efficiency of the overall team with the goal of streamlining contract cycles, increasing robustness and creating feedback loops from executing/executed business into pricing and management of future business (Trade, Operations and Execution). As in any digital transition, there is a degree of initial change management involving training, ongoing support, and continuous improvement.
Main accountabilities:
The Freight Data Quality team is responsible for the quality of data and the support of data quality activities and initiatives within the Freight department. The role of this team is to elevate data management and data quality, working closely with business, to ensure data quality throughout the data management process which is strongly integrated between our different systems. Data quality is key to guarantee that the information used to make key business decisions is reliable, accurate and complete.
Interacting continuously with the entire team, understand data usage patterns and establish data quality requirements to leverage the full potential of our data assets for Freight Operations, Execution, Controlling, Decarbonization and Accounting Teams.
Coordinate with Dev team the automation of recuring processes and the development of dashboards helping faster and more efficient decision-making process.
Actively participate in projects requiring data integration or data migration effort and ensure that the data quality is maintained throughout the data lifecycle.
Perform a data quality assessment to identify potential issues (ex: duplicate records, missing values, inconsistent format…) and define data cleansing strategy such as deduplication or validation.
Put in place the necessary actions or data quality metrics to measure and track progress over time.
Main tasks:
Regularly check data for accuracy and completeness, identifying any discrepancies or issues that might impact data quality.
Assist the operational teams in cleaning and correcting data, removing errors, and ensuring that data is standardized and consistent across our different systems.
Contribute to the creation of data quality reports, documenting issues and detailing corrective actions taken.
Participate in initiatives aimed at improving data quality, such as designing and implementing new data validation rules or procedures.
Knowledge and Experience:
Experience:
2-5 years of experience
Professional experience in Shipping industry and/or Data management
Professional experience in Finance/Trading industry is a plus.
Knowledge:
Understanding of business value related to features and functions.
Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills
Data management and data quality concepts high-level understanding
Good documentation skills
Dry Bulk Freight Industry and Finance knowledge would be a plus.
Education:
Business Administration Degree with interest in Data management
Finance degree would be a plus.
Languages:
Fluent in English essential, additional languages considered an advantage.
Systems:
Shipping systems as a plus
Other skills and competencies:
Self-motivated with the drive to make a difference.
Highly detailed oriented with a strong desire to align system data with business reality.
The position will require a good level of soft skills, interacting with people engaged in other aspects of the business and supporting them in their daily data management tasks.
Ability to work with a broad spectrum of people across various cultures.
Time management - ability to set tasks and create and work to own deadlines to continuously progress and evolving project scope.
Ability to identify patterns among datasets that can indicate opportunities.
Ability to take on large review project to drive it to a successful conclusion.
Interactions/ interface:
The position will be pivotal between every role in the Freight Platform (Trading, Operations, Execution) and also interacting with IT and other platforms.
