Overall Purpose and Objective of Position

Direct and coordinate cotton warehousing activities under the direction of the Warehouse Manager.  These responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Inspect physical condition of warehouse and equipment.  Prepare work order for repairs and replacement of equipment.
  • Coordinate activities of warehouse personnel.
  • Direct salvage of damaged cotton.
  • Participate in planning personnel safety and warehouse protection activities.
  • Review production orders, schedules and reports, resolving any problems.
  • Assist in planning of warehouse operations.
  • Operate lift truck.
  • Active member of the facility SHE Program. 
  • Maintains good working knowledge of SHE policies, rules and procedures applicable to area of responsibility and ensures all applicable requirements are adhered to. 
  • Ensures employees are provided required training for area assigned, and jobs and tasks prior to assigning work. 
  • Ensures area of responsibility is maintained in orderly and safe manner. 
  • Ensures unsafe working conditions are remedied as soon as practicable.  
  • Perform all related responsibilities as required

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree or three years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands)

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Must be able to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions pertaining to job.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.  Interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Job requirements include standing, walking, sitting, use of hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools or controls. Must be able to reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel crouch and crawl.  Also have the ability to speak, hear and communicate clearly.
  • Required to regularly lift/move up to 25 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities are required. These include good close and distance vision, color and peripheral vision.  Good depth perception and the ability to focus are necessary.

 Working Conditions

     Duties are performed in outside weather conditions, working frequently near moving             mechanical parts.

     Occasional work done in high, precarious places and could be exposed to fumes and           cotton dust.

  • Supervises all warehouse employees to ensure productivity and safety at all times.

    Decision Making/Accountability

  • Accountable for warehouse productivity and safety.
  • Accountable for employee training, supervision, and the resolution of all employee complaints and problems.
  • Accountable for maintenance of reports and other paperwork.
