Overall Purpose: The purpose is to support the development of LDC’s Stronger Coffee Initiative (SCI) in Uganda. Stronger Coffee Initiative (SCI) is a new LDC-led platform for collaborative investments in coffee sustainability consisting of 3 interrelated areas of action: 1) Farmer Prosperity (incl. Gender Equity and Youth), 2) Low Carbon Production, and 3) Regenerative Agriculture. Leveraging LDC’s experience, global reach and supply chain expertise, the SCI builds coalitions and increases opportunities for all our partners to invest in these 3 areas for a stronger future - for coffee, for people and for the environment. Our global goal is to facilitate collaborative investments that lead to measurable impact and shared rewards to scale sustainability across the value chain and achieve the following high-level outcomes: 1. Farmer Prosperity (incl. Gender Equity and Youth): By 2027, support 30,000 farmers (of which x % to be women and youth) globally with access to agronomic technical assistance, value added market opportunities and responsible business best practices to increase and diversify their income. 2. Low Carbon Production: By 2027, support the production of 180,000 MT (Metric Tons) of third party-verified, low-carbon coffee and plant 1.2 million shade trees in coffee agroforestry systems. 3. Regenerative Agriculture: By 2027, establish regenerative agriculture and soil restoration practices across 100,000ha of coffee farmland. In this context, LDC is looking for a coordinator that will facilitate the development and implementation of the first LDC’s SCI first pilot projects in Uganda.
