LDC is looking for a motivated and independent self-starter Process Engineer to join our plant protein business unit Engineering group. The Engineering team helps to innovate, scale-up and enhance the production of plant-based proteins, contributing to advancements in food technology and sustainability.

Main Responsibilities:

In addition to the responsibilities listed below, the employee may be required to perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor.

  • Design, plan, execute, and lead experiments on pilot-scale equipment for plant protein extraction and purification.
  • Oversee and manage all pilot plant operations, including equipment maintenance, commissioning, inventory management, and adherence to GMP standards.
  • Collect samples, conduct subsequent analysis, record and analyze data, and write scientific reports.
  • Drive all documentation maintenance, including batch records, inventory logs, SOPs, and JHAs.
  • Support the maintenance program, including preventative maintenance (PM) checks and minor equipment repairs.
  • Ensure cleanliness and order in all areas.
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to ensure efficient process scale-up.
  • Manage R&D projects, driving scale-up from lab to pilot plant. Including, development of timelines & key activities, economic modelling etc.
  • Support contract manufacturing scale-up and technology transfer.
  • Serve as one of the lead process engineers in the commissioning and tech transfer at large commercial facilities.
  • Promote safety and continuous improvement practices.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a pilot or manufacturing environment, preferably in the food or biotech industry.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Collaborative team mindset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to safety, health, and environmental (SHE) standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Skills:

  • Experience with equipment cleaning and sanitization processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow complex operational instructions.
  • Experience and interest in mechanical piping, electrical, or other relevant trade skills.

Required Languages:

  • Fluent in English.
