Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions 

  • Unload grain and grain by-products from trucks. 

  • Opening gates and doors on  trucks  

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment and facility 

  • Must be able to distinguish different products and report any abnormities to supervisor 

  • Be able to work a combination of 8, 10, & 12 hour shifts consisting of days, nights & weekends. 

  • Work is physically demanding, dirty and exposed to outside elements  

  • Follow instructions of Superintendent, Assistant or Lead  

  • Follow all LDC safety rules and procedures 

  • Must have adequate knowledge of all SHE policies 

  • Responsible for a clean work area, clean facility and general maintenance (housekeeping) 

  • Must wear all required PPE for the jobs being performed 

  • Assist in all areas of the facility as needed 

  • Must be able to perform all barge/deck hand duties in a safe manner 

  • Must have adequate knowledge with the Compuweigh scale system  

  • Ability to grade grain accurately  

  • Must be able to accurately probe loaded commodity trucks 

  • Must be able to operate all control room functions – Navigate grain to the specified locations 

  • Must be able to operate bin sweeps in all grain tanks 

  • Must be able to operate the grain dryer efficiently and effectively to reach the targeted moisture

Education/Professional Certifications/Licenses 

The following are the basic qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma/GED 

 

Experience 

The following are the basic qualifications: 

  • At least one years’ experience working at a grain elevator  

  • Experience grading grain 

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (including any physical demands) 

The following are the basic qualifications: 

  • Ability to use PLC 

  • Knowledgeable and experienced in the use of hand tools, power tools, chain falls, com-a-longs, grinders, drill presses, table saws, etc… 

  • Must have ability to work from ladders and scaffolds at heights above 6’ 

  • Be able to lift and carry a minimum of 75 lbs.  

  • Must be able to work in dusty conditions 

  • Must be able to work frequently in inclement weather  

  • Must be aware and attentive to surroundings which may include automatic starting conveyors belts and other moving machinery   

  • Must be able to climb, bend, kneel, squat, and crawl occasionally and stand and walk frequently 

Working Conditions 

Requires frequent extensions of regular working hours, including nights and weekends 

Requires walking/working outdoors, alternating between climate controlled areas and areas with varying temperatures and in various weather and other atmospheric conditions such as dust and noise.
